The President wants $100 million in budget cuts. Considering that he increased spending by a good $1.2 or $1.3 trillion this year, that’s practically nothing. If he wants to make real cuts (naturally, he doesn’t, but let me play along…), he could start by cutting out all of the extra spending he added this year, as well as a good portion of the Bush spending increases. At that point, he’d have budget-cutting bona fides. Brian Riedl’s 300-some billion dollar cut suggestions would also be a decent start, but again, that’s still just a fraction of his increases.
