Dope Duped

Paul Mirengoff on whether President Obama was duped into thinking highly of Ho Chi Minh.

  1. This strikes me as actual history taken way out of context (by the author): Ho Chi Minh, like virtually every revolutionary post 1776, probably did look upon Jefferson, et. al. as inspiration. After all, they had a successful independence movement. Lenin himself had a copy of the Declaration of Independence in his office. That does not mean that Ho Chi Minh was a good guy (which is what both you and the author seem to be indicating, so far as Obama’s opinion goes). Now, I’m going solely off the comparison mentioned in the blog and in the Fox News article it linked to. If he said something more in the actual speech, you could well be justified in making such a claim.
