ESR has a quick note up for people who oppose SOPA: take your (correctly) righteous indignation and continue to apply it to all of the other areas in which the government teams up with large corporations to expand the power of both. SOPA is not the exception; it is the rule. Once you give a government the power to create and destroy, it becomes in the interest of many individuals and groups to control this government for their own uses.
The real solution is not simply to oppose SOPA, the Protect IP Act, and whatever other bills come out of the houses of Congress in the future (because the RIAA and MPAA will not rest until they get their legislation passed), but rather to emasculate the government, weakening it to the point that it is no longer a threat to us. Anything less is willful blindness.
