If you have to take political beliefs into consideration when inviting guests to a dinner party, something is seriously wrong with your culture.  Very little of my social life involves politics and the notion that I shouldn’t like somebody on the basis of political disagreements—or that political disagreements are a legitimate reason for social strife—is ridiculous and small-minded.
