36 Chambers – The Legendary Journeys: Execution to the max!

January 14, 2014

Top thirty crime procedurals, #16: Endgame

Filed under: Our Favorites, Television and/or Movies — Tony Demchak @ 7:37 am

IMDB link.

Basic premise: If Gregory House was Russian, solved crimes and was also agoraphobic.

Why it’s here: Although I used House above, Monk is another parallel. The main character is psychologically damaged, but hides it by being an ass. The chess motif works really, really well. The concept of solving crimes without leaving a hotel was brilliant, and made for a great show.

Why it isn’t higher: Because it only ever got one season. It was great in that one season, but it ended on such a huge cliffhanger that it ends up being disappointing.
