Top thirty crime procedurals, #29: Homicide: Life on the Street

IMDB link.

Basic premise: Gritty police drama, set in Baltimore.

Why it’s here: A startling array of great characters, that I only realized when I looked at that IMDB entry. Detective Munch, played by Richard Belzer, was essentially transplanted to Law and Order: SVU with absolutely no change in character. It worked really well.

Why it isn’t higher: While Kevin was watching sci-fi shows in the 90′s, I was watching these shows with my parents. I think if I watched the series again, I’d probably rate it higher, but my memory is just too fuzzy right now.
