Drew Stubbs, we hardly knew ye

Filed under: Sports — Tony Demchak @ 3:35 pm

Drew Stubbs has gone to Colorado in exchange for Josh Outman. Stubbs was kind of an odd duck to begin — think a poor man’s Mike Cameron and you’re not far wrong. He was cheap, but failed to do any of the things he was supposedly good at except strike out and play defense. .233/.305/.360 doesn’t cut it in the AL, even for a great CF, which Stubbs isn’t — he is very good.

Apart from having one of the best possible names for a pitcher (Baseball Prospectus made a joke about it one year), what do we know about Out-Man? Well, the one thing I can’t tell from Baseball Reference is how he was used, but at the very least he looks to be a solid LOOGY, and the Indians bullpen is short handed.

I like it.
