What A Fellow

Filed under: Curmudgeonliness, Economics — Kevin Feasel @ 6:00 pm

VICE has an article on how leftist magazines and papers use unpaid interns or pay their new hires well below minimum wage.  Given that these same people are writing screeds about how the minimum wage needs to go up and companies are exploiting their laborers, the level of hypocrisy is humorous.  My favorite part was the magazine which renamed internships as “fellowships” to get around the connotation of underpaid interns.  Now you’re a “fellow” who gets underpaid!

Speaking of humorous, the Obama administration wants to get rid of unpaid internships.  Their first target should be OFA, which uses unpaid interns.  Remember:  if you like your internship, you can keep your internship, period.
